German Postmodernism
Bar-Cabinet, Bookshelf "Model 240, Hallo 3"
Lacquered Wood, Glass
Manufactured by Interlübke, Germany, 1980s
1980s German postmodern furniture, primarily defined by the Neues Deutsches Design (New German Design) movement, which was a radical, anti-functionalist departure from the established Bauhaus tradition, embracing bold, bizarre, and ironic furniture and objects movement, featured a raw, energetic aesthetic, often incorporating low-cost materials with very strong geometric forms and elements influenced by the Italian Design.
The same bar-cabinet is part of the permanent installation at the "Muche Schelemmer" Master House in "Bauhaus Dessau", the master house where Kadisnky, Marcel Breuer, Walter Gropius, Paul Klee, between others has lived. The concept of this permanent installation is to bring the "Triadic Ballet" in the Living Room at the Schlemmer Masters' House, Dessau.
