Vivai del Sud was founded in Roma in 1950 by brothers Giorgio, Gianfranco, and Piero di Pierri. Initially established as a landscape design firm specializing in landscape gardening and the restoration of large historical parks, the company later expanded into furniture design Their aesthetic drew inspiration from Italian Baroque motifs and classical Italian influences.
