This very rare chair and ottoman consists of a steel structure covered with a hard moulded polyester foam, coated with black cotton fabric.
The back cushion, armrests, seat, and ottoman are covered with a Gaetano Pesce "People" textile designed in 1987 and part of the permanent exhibition of "The Metropolitan Museum of Art". The covers are removable and washable.
Toshiyuki Kita (architect, designer, artist) received "the Japan Interior Design Award" in 1975 and "The Institute of Business Designers" Product Design Prize in 1983.
Some of his works, including the “Wink” and the table “Kick”, were included in the permanent collection of The "Museum of Modern Arts" (MoMA) in New York, "the Hamburg Museum of Arts & Commerce", and other international museums. He was also a professor at The Osaka Academy of Arts (大阪芸術大学) and exhibits regularly.
Chair and ottoman and good original vintage condition. The chair covers have been professionally cleaned. Right armrest cover and head side back cushion, showing slight signs of wear.
